A Lamboo mobile PET/CT unit brings nuclear-medicine imaging to the hospital site and is operational in under 30 minutes. It is a complete, self-contained department built around the OEM PET-CT system, with injection and uptake rooms, a hot lab and the shielded scan room all on board. Hydraulic slide-outs create the floor area needed to keep patients who have received the tracer on their own route once the unit is sited. The layout is engineered around that workflow rather than fitted into a standard trailer.
Clinical workflow & patient management
The unit is designed around the full PET pathway: injection, uptake and scanning all take place on board, supported by a hot lab and a shielded hot toilet. Patients follow a single controlled route, which keeps dosed patients separated from staff and from patients who have not yet been injected. The number of injection and uptake rooms is set per project. Slide-out sections create the floor area needed for a workable clinical layout once the unit is sited.
Eliminating patient transfer risks and clinical bottlenecks
Because injection, uptake and scanning all happen on board, patients are not moved through the hospital after receiving the tracer. That removes a known source of delay and radiation-safety risk, since a dosed patient no longer crosses public corridors or waiting areas. It also protects throughput: the uptake period runs in a dedicated room inside the unit, so the scanner is free for the next patient at the planned time rather than waiting on transport.
Premium craftsmanship engineered for up to 30 years of service
Lamboo units are built to last. The structure is engineered for a 15-year service life and can be extended by a further 15 years through refurbishment under a Lamboo service agreement, giving a horizon of up to 30 years. In a refurbishment the accommodation is brought back to specification and can be prepared for a newer PET-CT system. Interiors are produced in Lamboo’s own workshop, so finishes, cabinetry and shielding details are made to the project.
