Why the GE Voyager 1.5T IPM is a breakthrough

The GE Voyager 1.5T uses IPM technology (Intelligent Permanent Magnet). The IPM magnet significantly reduces helium consumption (up to 70% less) over the lifecycle compared to conventional 1.5T MRI systems. The system does still contain liquid helium, but considerably less than traditional magnets. The result is lower operational costs, less maintenance, and a unit that is far easier to place, including at locations where a traditional MRI was never an option.
